Eligibility for Admission:

                 To be eligible for admission a candidate shall have to fulfill the following condition-

      The candidate must have passed Secondary School Leaving Certificate (10+) examination conducted by the Meghalaya Board of Secondary Education or its equivalent conducted by a recognized Board/Council securing at least 45% marks in Mathematics and 40% marks in Science relaxable to 40% marks in Mathematics and 40% marks in Science for candidate belonging to Scheduled caste/scheduled Tribe communities of Meghalaya.

   Age limit:

                  Applicants should not be more than 21 years of age as on the first of July of the year of admission relaxable by 1 (one) years for candidates who have passed HSSLC (12+), or equivalent examination and 3 (three) years for candidates belonging to SC/ST.

 

   Medical fitness:

               A candidate should be physically fit and mentally sound and possess a minimum standard height of 1.5 metre relaxable to 1.3 meters for Hills Tribes, weight 41 kg, chest 72 cm with minimum expansion of 2.5 cm and free from physical handicap which might hamper efficient performance of student’s professional studies. Physical standard are relaxable in case of Girls candidates to a certain extent. A candidate after being selected for admission should obtain Medical Fitness Certificate from the Medical Officer not below the rank of Assistant Civil Surgeon (Grade-I) in the prescribed form.

 

     Residential eligibility:

(a)                 Candidates must be son or daughter of Citizen of India as defined under Articles of the Constitution of India.

(b)               Candidates must be permanent resident of Meghalaya.

(c)                Candidates once admitted in the Polytechnic are not eligible to apply as fresh candidate in subsequent year.

(d)               Students who fail or discontinue in their courses of study may apply in plain paper of the Principal for consideration of admission against repeater’s quota.

1.       The lists of the Selected candidates for admission to 1st Semester of 3(three) years Diploma Courses in Computer Application, Food processing and Preservation and Medical Electronics in Tura Polytechnic , Tura for the Session 2023-24  are placed in Merit, K & J, Garo, Others & Non-Eligible List.1.  

2.   For admission to 3(three ) years Diploma Courses in Tura Polytechnic, the candidates should have passed SSLC Examination or equivalent examination with at least  45% marks each in Mathematics and Science relax- able to 40% for students belonging to SC, ST communities of Meghalaya. The selection is based on the basis of merit marks (marks in Maths + marks in Science) in the SSLC Examination and as per Meghalaya Govt. Reservation Policy for different communities of State. Those candidates who did not appear before the Selection Board (Interview Board) have not been included in the list and not considered for admission.

3.   The intake capacity of different branches as approved by AICTE are as shown below:-

  Computer Application 30 seats

Food Processing & Preservation 30 seats

Medical Electronics 30 seats

 Total = 90 Seats

          4.   As per Cabinet decision which is being followed from year to year if any seat(s) in Garo Category remaining unutilized due to less number of eligible candidates, the seat(s) are to be utilized by the Khasi & Jaintia category candidates and vice versa if candidates are available.

5.   Candidates from different reserved categories are eligible to get open seats provided:

a.   They qualify in the open merit list in respect of merit marks (marks in Maths + marks in Science) and preference of branch distributed category wise.

b.  They qualify in the open merit list in respect of merit marks (marks in Maths + marks in Science) but not in the preference of branch. In such case they are considered from open merit list with preference of branches which they would have got if considered in the reserved category.

  6.   Due to less number of eligible/qualified candidates, admission committee is requested to consider admission for those candidates whose marks each in Mathematics and Science are even below 40% but above 30 % in order to fully utilize the seats approved by AICTE. The selected candidate lists are prepared into Three lists. List-I is the list of the candidates who secured 40% marks and above each in Maths and Science, and List-II is the list of the candidate who secured below 40% but above 30% marks in Maths and Science and the third list is a special list of candidates who either not having math or science marks or are not resident of Meghalaya or are overage.

7.   In case two or more candidates secure same merit marks(i.e. marks in Maths + marks in Science) their related merit is decided first by marks in English in the qualifying examination and in case of tie in both merit marks and marks in English then the merit is decide based on marks in aggregate.

8.   The candidates whose age above 24years and pass SSLC as on 1st July of the Admission year for SC/ST/OT is considered as overage as mentioned in the prospectus approved by MSCTE and such candidate is disqualified for admission. Whereas for candidates whose age above 25years and pass HSLC(+12) as on 1st July of the Admission year for SC/ST/OT is considered as overage and treated as disqualified. Whereas for candidates whose age above 21years and pass SSLC as on 1st July of the Admission year for General  is considered as overage and treated as disqualified. Whereas for candidates whose age above 22years and pass HSLC(+12) as on 1st July of the Admission year for General  is considered as overage and treated as disqualified.
